Description

The Senator Frank L. Madla, Jr. Natural Area celebrates a Helotes native who served in the Texas House of Representatives and State Senate for over 30 years. This part of his legacy features a carefully-preserved ecosystem that visitors to the Hill Country can explore over a series of hiking trails. Since this is a carefully maintained natural area, visitors are asked to adhere to the park’s “take only pictures, leave only footprints” philosophy. Pets are allowed here, as long as they are leashed at all times. The park is open sunrise to sunset every day of the year. Admission is free, but donations are welcomed.
