Description

Just a few miles northwest of Pipe Creek lies the tiny settlement of Polly, named after Jose Policarpio “Polly” Rodriguez. He earned a reputation as a surveyor, scout, and Texas Ranger, and became a respected expert on the Hill Country region. In 1882, he built what is now known as Polly’s Chapel, a building that has been lovingly restored and still stands today. The chapel and nearby cemetery are both Texas Historical Landmarks, and the Polly Schoolhouse is in the process of being renovated, as well. For more information on the historic town of Polly, contact the Polly, Texas Pioneer Association.
